Ofcom also launched a campaign to help households get better broadband deals and protect loyal customers after research from Ofcom shows that 94% of UK homes and offices could get superfast broadband but less than half have actually taken advantage of this option and are struggling with slower speeds.
Consumers could also be paying more than the necessary for their broadband after their initial contract period expired.
The new campaign called Boost Your Broadband, is aimed at changing this. The campaign website where customers can access a range of information and guidance on how to get the best broadband deal for their needs.
Ofcom has partnered with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and Which? on the campaign,
Speaking about the launch of the broadband pricing review, Ofcom chief executive Sharon White said: “We’re concerned that many loyal broadband customers aren’t getting the best deal they could.
“So we’re reviewing broadband pricing practices and ensuring customers get clear, accurate information from their provider about the best deals they offer.”
