German economic sentiment improves less than expected in November - ZEW
German economic sentiment improved a little less than expected in November, according to the latest survey from the ZEW Center for European Economic Research in Mannheim.
The index of economic sentiment rose to 18.7 from 17.6 the month before, missing expectations for a reading of 20.0.
However, the current situation index increased to 88.8 from 87.0, surpassing expectations for a smaller increase to 88.0.
ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach said: “The prospects for the German economy remain encouragingly positive. Overall high levels of growth across Europe in the third quarter are supporting further growth in Germany and boosting expectations for the coming six months.
“This favourable economic climate should be used to create a stronger and more robust basis for future growth.”
