Ryanair widens website offer to include event tickets
Low-cost airline Ryanair, in partnership with digital ticketing agency Coras, has launched a new digital initiative aimed at selling theatre, music and sporting tickets to its customers on Thursday.
As it attempts to wrestle back its reputation from thousands of holidays flight cancellations that put a dampener on countless holidays around Europe this summer, Ryanair said customer visiting its website would be able to buy tickets to some of the West End's biggest shows, with the website matching up travel dates and destinations with customers's flight bookings.
The Irish carrier's live music programme would begin with tickets for a London-based series of music events available on Friday, with further tickets to follow shortly thereafter.
Greg O'Gorman of Ryanair said prices will be "competitive" and "an easy add-on" for customers with a Ryanair account.
"Initially launching with tickets for shows in the UK, Ryanair Tickets will be extended to include events across Europe in the future," he added.
Mark McLaughlin, Coras' chief executive, said, "Travel plans increasingly start with the purchase of an event ticket, whether it be for a Premiership football match or for a favourite music artist," adding that Ryanair Tickets would offer customers a more "convenient and personalised experience to purchase the best event tickets across Europe."
As of 1300 BST, Ryanair shares had slipped back 0.12% to €17.09 each.
