Ex-Nissan boss Ghosn to remain in jail until 20 December - reports
Carlos Ghosn has had a complaint over his ongoing detention thrown out by the Tokyo District Court.
The former chairman of car manufacturer Nissan was officially indicated on Monday on charges of understating his pay in financial statements by $44m over a five-year period. He was arrested on November 19 and has been held since then for questioning.
New charges were also announced on Monday, however, also relating to understating his pay, which meant prosecutors could seek to extend his detention.
The court approved the extension for the first ten days, to December 20, and Ghosn was widely reported to have lodged a complaint to the court about the extension.
But according to CNN, the court said on Tuesday that it had thrown out his complaint, meaning he will remain in jail until 20 December at the earliest.
Neither Ghosn nor Greg Kelly, another Nissan executive who was arrested at the same time, have made any public statement. But it is understood both men deny the charges against them.
